Implementing evidence-based practice (EBP) in nursing can be challenging due to multiple gaps, and missed opportunities. EBP is composed of three primary elements. Recency, expert analysis, and value based upon patient expectations (Alqahtani et al., 2022).  One obstacle is a lack of resources as it relates to staffing, and budgets. Limited funding may restrict the ability t staff mid level providers for a Provider in Triage (PIT) project. The application and implementation is considered to be the most difficult process. This phase is not only difficult but is also slow and tedious (Pitsillidou et al., 2021).

It may be argued that there is more efficient utilization of resources of a mid level provider. The ultimate goal is to get the buy in from medical director of the emergency department as this initiative could potentially lead to reduced wait times for patients and increased patient satisfaction.
