NUR 590 Discuss the significance of frameworks/models in guiding research or evidence-based practice projects Re: Topic 3 DQ 1

Conceptual frameworks mainly comprise of statements that explain or describe an occurrence and guides in the selection of the study variables including how they relate to each other hence assist in coming up with possible solutions (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2023). The framework basically serves as a guide to the implementation criteria of a study and also responsible for guiding the process. It considers the relationship between variables prior to establishing the implementation criteria. Moullin et al. (2020) stated that frameworks are usually for communication as they organize, explain or describe information, range and relationships between concepts while models are usually prescriptive and specify the steps required in implementation of a project. Having examined the models and framework’s role, choosing the wrong framework can impact the entire project by misguided efforts as well as disorganized implementation and interactions. In addition to this, wrong frameworks can lead to wasted resources, erroneous conclusions, specification errors in implementation methods as well as data analysis (Moullin et al, 2020). Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt (2023) also echo these sentiments stating that a well-designed theoretical framework will help prevent results that may be weak and speculative in nature. It is critical to carefully select and articulate the conceptual framework while considering all the variables that may affect the study results prior to implementation of any project to be able to achieve authentic results.
